Orthopedic surgeon leader to know: Dr. Andrew Vicar of OrthoIndy

Andrew Vicar, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at OrthoIndy, an orthopedic practice with locations throughout Indiana. He specializes in treating hand, elbow and wrist injuries, with an emphasis on carpal tunnel, pediatrics and sports medicine.

He is a hand surgery consultant for the physician assistant program at Indianapolis-based Butler University and for the Greencastle-based DePauw University. Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Vicar has served as chairman of the hand surgery section at Methodist Hospital in northwest Indiana. He has also sat on the board of directors for the Arthritis Foundation.

 

Dr. Vicar earned his medical degree from Ohio State University in Columbus, where he also did his orthopedic surgery residency. He went on to complete a hand surgery fellowship at the University of Rochester in New York state.
