Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Judith Baumhauer of University of Rochester Medical Center

Judith F. Baumhauer, MD, MPH, directs the Foot and Ankle Institute at University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center. She is also the associate chair of academic affairs for URMC's department of orthopedics and a professor of orthopedics. She is a past president of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society and Eastern Orthopaedic Association.

Dr. Baumhauer has won numerous awards over the course of her career, including the Roger Mann, MD Award for Outstanding Clinical Study from American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and an Achievement Award from American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. She has also won the Greater Rochester 2012 Athena Award from Rochester Business Alliance's Women's Council. Her work has been published in a number of prestigious journals such as The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.

 

Dr. Baumhauer earned her medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at University of Vermont Medical Center, both located in Burlington. She also completed a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
