Orthopedic surgeon leader to know: Dr. Michael Joyce of Cleveland Clinic

Michael Joyce, MD, is the co-director of the musculoskeletal tumor center at Cleveland Clinic. His practice focuses on musculoskeletal tumors, adult reconstructive arthritis procedures and difficult fracture treatment. He is one of two trained orthopedic traumatologists at Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Joyce has been on staff at Cleveland Clinic since January 1993 and previously spent 10 years on staff at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Joyce is active in teaching medical students, residents and other orthopedic surgeons.

 

From 1997 to 1999 Dr. Joyce was the president of the American Association of Tissue Banks. His expertise includes reconstruction of pelvic and acetabular fractures, lizarov reconstruction procedures, limb salvage and allograft reconstructive procedures.

 

Dr. Joyce earned his medical degree at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. His additional training includes a fellowship from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston focusing on orthopedic tumor surgery and a second fellowship at Sunnybrook Hospital in Canada focused on orthopedic reconstruction and trauma surgery.
