Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Michael Bronson of Mount Sinai Health System

Michael Bronson, MD, is the chairman of orthopedics at Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai St. Luke's, both located in New York. He previously served as the director of the joint replacement service at Mount Sinai. He is board-certified and focuses on hip surgery, knee surgery, arthroscopy and total joint replacements.

Dr. Bronson's research interests also center on total hip and knee replacements as well as reconstructive surgery. He developed the Vision Total Hip, a total hip replacement system which has been in use for the past 10 years. The system avoids the use of cement in all age groups. He has also worked to develop instruments for minimally invasive unicondylar partial knee replacement and brought anterior total hip replacement to Mount Sinai.

 

Dr. Bronson's work has been published in prestigious journals such as Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research, Journal of Arthroplasty and Orthopedics. In 2010, he received the A.M.A. Physicians Recognition Award from the American Medical Association.

 

Dr. Bronson earned his medical degree at New York Medical College and completed his residency at Lenox Hill (N.Y.) Hospital and Children's Hospital Boston. He completed a fellowship in hip and knee replacement surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York.
