John Noble, MD, is using the Robotic Arm Interactive Orthopedic System at St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, La. The device is projected to receive FDA approval for total knee replacement in March 2016.
Charlottesville-based University of Virginia System welcomed Armin Harandi, MD, and Elisabeth Robinson, MD, to its physician staff. Both orthopedic surgeons will work full-time at the UVA Orthopedics Culpeper.
Jonathan Macknin, MD, joined The CORE Institute in Phoenix. Fellowship-trained in orthopedics, Dr. Macknin specializes in hand and upper extremity surgery.
The American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons awarded four orthopedic surgeons the 2015 James A. Rand Young Investigator's Award. The recipients include:

Los Alamos (N.M.) Medical Center welcomed Cully Christensen, MD, to its team. Dr. Christensen obtained his medical degree at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City, and completed his residency at Maricopa County Medical Center in Phoenix.
American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons elected Walter Stanwood, MD, to its organization. Dr. Stanwood holds a special interest in shoulder and elbow joint replacement, sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery.
Fayetteville-based University of Arkansas biomedical engineering students shadowed orthopedic surgeon John Harp, MD. Students observed knee, hip and shoulder replacement surgeries.
