Drs. Robert LaPrade, Tyler Beckley & more — 13 orthopedic surgeons making headlines

Here are 13 orthopedic surgeons making the news this week.

Orthopedic knee surgeon Robert LaPrade, MD, PhD, of Vail, Colo.-based The Steadman Clinic, received the 2015 Alumni Career Award from The University of Maine Alumni Association in Orono. Dr. LaPrade has published more than 240 peer-reviewed articles and is regarded as one of the most prolific researchers in sports medicine.

 

The American Society for Surgery of the Hand elected new officers and board members. The newly elected officers and members include:

 

•    Neil F. Jones, MD, UC Irvine (president)
•    Ghazi M. Rayan, MD, INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City (president-elect)
•    James Chang, MD, Stanford Medicine in Palo Alto, Calif. (vice-president)
•    William H. Seitz Jr., MD, Cleveland Clinic (immediate past president)
•    Julie E. Adams, MD, University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. (member-at-large)
•    Steven L. Moran, MD, Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. (member-at-large)
•    Jeffrey A. Greenberg, MD, Indiana Hand Center in Indianapolis (practice division director)

 

Jamie Frantz, MD, joined Beloit (Wis.) Health System. Dr. Frantz treats musculoskeletal conditions and injuries.

 

Jonathan Hersch, MD, is the first physician in Florida trained to perform the biologic augmentation procedure, a rotator cuff repair procedure. Rotation Medical developed the new procedure, and researchers are collecting its long-term effects.

 

Wisconsin-based The Bone & Joint Center welcomed Tyler J. Beckley, DO, to its medical staff. Dr. Beckley focuses on foot and ankle care in addition to sports medicine and arthroscopy.

 

Jonathon Struemph, MD, joined MountainView Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces, N.M. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Wichita-based University of Kansas School of Medicine.

 

The Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society named Samir Mehta, MD, president for 2015 to 2016. Dr. Mehta serves as the chief of the orthopedic trauma division at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine in Philadelphia.
