Orthopedic Surgeon to know: Dr. Richard Berger of Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush

Richard Berger, MD, practices at Chicago-based Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, where he specializes in hip and knee reconstruction and replacement. He also serves as an assistant professor at Rush University Medical Center.

As a pioneer in minimally invasive surgery, Dr. Berger created specialized instruments, techniques for surgery and several knee and hip implants. Specifically, he designed gender-specific implants that fit and perform better for active patients.

 

Dr. Berger obtained his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. After medical school, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Berger underwent his joint replacement fellowship at Rush University Medical Center.
