Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Alexander R. Vaccaro of Rothman Institute

Alexander R. Vaccaro, MD, PhD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon practicing at Rothman Institute in Philadelphia.  Dr. Vaccaro serves as the president of Rothman Institute as well as the chairman of the department of orthopedic surgery at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. He educates fellows and residents on the diagnosis and treatment of different spinal problems and disorders.

Dr. Vaccaro has written over 503 peer-reviewed and 195 non-peer-reviewed publications as well as 300 book chapters. Additionally, he is the editor of more than 44 textbooks and co-editor of OKU-Spine I and OKU-8.

 

He earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington D.C. After obtaining his medical degree, Dr. Vaccaro completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University. He went on to complete a spine fellowship at the University of San Diego.
