Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Thomas Kane III of Kane Orthopedic Institute

Thomas J. Kane, III, MD, is a renowned orthopedic surgeon and founder of the Kane Orthopedic Institute in Honolulu. He has performed more than 9,000 surgeries and has devised innovation solutions for various hip and knee conditions.

Dr. Kane was the first surgeon to be fellowship-trained in adult hip and knee surgery in the state of Hawaii. Additionally, he was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award by the University of Hawaii Orthopedic Residency Program. He was the first orthopedic surgeon to offer gender-specific total knee components and high-flex total knee components.

 

He earned his medical degree from the University of California, Davis. He completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu. He went on to complete an adult hip and knee reconstruction fellowship at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
