Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. John W. Uribe of UHZ Sports Medicine

John Uribe, MD, is a dual board-certified orthopedic surgeon practicing at Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables, Fla. He specializes in arthroscopic surgery, sports medicine and minimally invasive surgical procedures for degenerative conditions of the shoulder and knee. Dr. Uribe was appointed to the chairman of the department of orthopedics for the Florida International University School of Medicine.

Dr. Uribe is a founder of the UHZ Sports Medicine in Miami. He previously served as lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army and chief of orthopedics at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu. Dr. Uribe has been named as one of the "Best Doctors in America" every year since 2001.

 

Additionally, he is the member of several organizations including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Southern Orthopedic Association and Florida Orthopedic Society among several others.

 

He earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He went on to complete a residency in orthopedic surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital, affiliated with the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed an orthopedic surgery fellowship at Hughston Clinic in Columbus, Ga.
