Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Eddy L. Echols Jr. of Florida Orthopaedic Institute

Eddy L Echols Jr., MD, is an orthopedic surgeon subspecializing in shoulder and elbow surgery, as well as regenerative medicine and sports medicine at Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Miami.

Dr. Echols earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn., before his orthopedic surgery residency at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center. Dr. Echols also completed a shoulder and elbow surgery fellowship at Florida Orthopaedic Institute.

 

Dr. Echols is actively involved in research, and has authored publications and presentations in the areas of hand, elbow, and Achilles tendon ruptures.

 

Dr. Echols also has served active duty in the United States Navy, attaining a Commander rank. He served as the Officer-in-Charge of a Forward Deployed Surgical Resuscitative Unit during a tour of Iraq. When he returned, Dr. Echols served as head of orthopedics at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.
