Clustering analysis important for unbiased reporting orthopedic surgery trials, study says

Orthopedic

A new study has examined the use of clustering analysis in randomized controlled trials published in five journals focused on orthopedic surgery, according to a 7th Space Interactive report.

The study authors identified 239 RCTs in articles published between 2006 and 2010. Of these articles, 186 included multiple centers and providers. Clustering analysis was used in 21.5 percent of the trials. The researchers found that clustering analysis was more likely to occur when an epidemiologist or clinical trials methodologist was included on the team.

The authors also concluded that clustering analysis is an important step in unbiased reporting.
