Raj Rao, MD, is the director of spine surgery and professor of orthopedic surgery in the department of orthopaedic surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a member of the board of directors of the North American Spine Society. He was recently appointed to the FDA Advisory Panel on Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Devices.

His special interests include surgical management of cervical myelopathy, minimally invasive spine surgery, spinal tumors and spine trauma. Dr. Rao and his team have published extensive research on managing cervical myelopathy, showing how instrumentation of the cervical vertebrae may be safely accomplished to stabilize the spine column post-decompression.
