These 5 US counties have the top reduction of uninsured people under the ACA

NPR reports that health insurance coverage rates have risen dramatically under the ACA.

Here's what you need to know:

 

1. Between 2010 and 2015, nationwide uninsured rates dropped 7.7 percentage points for people under 65 years old.

 

2. These counties had the top five reductions of uninsured people between 2010 and 2015:

 

  • Miami-Dade County, Fla.
  • Los Angeles County, Calif.
  • Orange County, Calif.
  • Cook County, Ill.
  • Harris County, Texas

 

3. States that expanded Medicaid in 2014 saw more insured people and their uninsured rates dropped.

 

4. Uninsured rates for people below the federal poverty level has dropped by 8.9 points since 2013 compared to the 6.3 points it dropped on a national average.
