Repeal & replace in session — GOP set to reveal awaited healthcare plan this week

A senior House Republican aide told NBC News that Republicans will unveil their ACA replacement plan this week.

Here are five insights:

 

1. Spokesperson for Speaker Paul Ryan, AshLee Strong, told NBC News, the GOP is at "the culmination of a years-long process to keep [their] promise to the American people."

 

2. The GOP's Feb. 10, 2017, draft bill, obtained by NBC News, touched on expanded tax credits and health saving accounts as well as limited federal spending on tax subsidies and Medicaid.

 

3. NBC News reported it is not known how drastic the changes, if any, made their way into the final bill.

 

4. The senior aide also confirmed the White House held a staff meeting on March 3, 2017, to discuss any "outstanding issues," according to NBC News.

 

5. Congressional healthcare committees spent the weekend introducing the technical guidance to the bill, the senior aide told NBC News.
