97% of patients view healthcare facility access to medical history as important — 5 insights

Patients view full access to their medical records as critical to receiving high-quality care, based on a Transcend Insights survey.

The survey included 2,597 responses from patients who had visited a physician within the past year.

 

Here are five insights:

 

1. The survey revealed 97 percent of patients think every health institution should have access to their full medical history.

 

2. Thirty-eight percent of patients reported they are more likely to completely trust their medical provider when he or she can access their full medical history.

 

3. In terms of factors attributing to personalized care, 92 percent of patients view access to their medical records as crucial to the care equation.

 

4. Ninety-three percent of patients view the ability for providers to share their medical history information as an important factor of receiving quality care.

 

5. The survey found there is a gap between what patients expect and what is currently possible in terms of information sharing in the industry today.
