Geisinger Health System to hire 1.5k physicians, nurses, staff & more: 5 key notes

Geisinger Health System is planning to add 1,500 members to its staff, including physicians and advanced practitioners, according to a Daily Item report.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. The health system launched a nationwide recruitment effort to bring in the new practitioners, nurses and support staff. The move will grow Geisinger’s workforce by 5 percent.

 

2. There are positions open at the administrative, clerical and laboratory services level in addition to marketing, pharmacy, food services and research.

 

3. CEO David Feinberg, MD, instituted a $10 minimum wage across the health system in the past year.

 

4. Geisinger now includes 12 hospitals serving 45 counties and reports an estimated $8.9 billion impact on the economy in Pennsylvania.

 

5. Geisinger invests around $1.9 billion in workforce salaries, benefits, training and education.
