Practice Management

Earlier this week, HHS issued guidance as to what the agency considers a patient safety work product under the Patient Safety Quality Improvement Act, according to Healthcare Dive.

Here are four things know:

1. The legislation requires providers to report PSWPs to patient safety organizations.

2. The organizations take the data and evaluate it. Then, the organizations use their assessment to advise providers on best practices to combat future patient safety issues.

3. The HHS' Office for Civil Rights and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality jointly issue the guidance.

4. The 22-page guidance aims to promote healthcare transparency.
