Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush offers packaged pricing: 6 things to know

Practice Management

Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush now offers packaged pricing for orthopedic care.

The Chicago-based orthopedic practice offers package pricing for patients without insurance or those with high premiums. Here are five key notes on the program:

1. The packaged price includes surgeon fees, facility fees, anesthesia fees, supplies and implants and any uncomplicated follow-up care. The prices are transparent and there aren't hidden fees.

2. Additional care patients will need to seek outside of the bundled price includes diagnostic imaging such as MRI or X-rays, postoperative rehabilitation, home health services, physical therapy, durable medical equipment and postoperative medication.

3. The packaged pricing could attract patients from across the country, but travel expenses and overnight stays aren't covered in the price for care. Additionally, the initial price won't cover specialist consultations before surgery to determine medical clearance.

4. Any expenses from complications subsequent to the surgery and discharge aren't covered in the initial fee.

5. The prices are non-negotiable and payment is expected in full when services are rendered. The patients pay Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush directly and third parties or insurance companies won't be billed for services in the program.

6. The surgical services included in the packaged pricing include:

• ACL repair: $10,800
• Hip arthroscopy: $13,250
• Knee arthroscopy: $5,000
• Rotator cuff repair: $11,300
• Shoulder arthroscopy: $10,000
