In 2015, 56 percent of employed physicians had previously been in private practice, according to a survey by Jackson Healthcare.
Jackson Healthcare surveyed U.S. physicians who had been in private practice, but have left it for employment.
Here are the top three reasons physicians cite for leaving private practice:
• The overhead and cost of maintaining a medical practice was too high — 33 percent
• I want to focus on the practice of medicine and patient care, rather than administrative hassles — 27 percent
• Reimbursement cuts — 26 percent
