TeamHealth acquires IPC Healthcare for $1.6B: 5 things to know

TeamHealth, an outsourced physician staffing solutions for hospitals provider, acquired IPC Healthcare, an acute hospital and post-acute provider organization.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. The acquisition was an all-cash transaction of $1.6 billion or $80.25 per share.

 

2. The combined networks of these two companies will create a vast physician services organization.

 

3. TeamHealth will grow as a result of combining synergistic emergency medicine with hospital medicine capabilities.

 

4. The company expects at least $60 million of combine cost and identified revenue synergies within three years.

 

5. The transaction is expected to close during the fourth quarter of 2015.

 

"Through this combination, TeamHealth will be better positioned to capitalize on key trends as the US healthcare industry moves toward value-based reimbursement with an increased focus on post-acute care and services," said Mike Snow, TeamHealth president and CEO.
