5 telemedicine startups revolutionizing healthcare

Telemedicine is gaining popularity as patients seek care in rural areas, want shorter wait times and lower costs. These five telemedicine startups are ahead of the curve, according to CIO.

Here are five telemedicine startups:

 

1. Teladoc connects board-certified physicians with patients every day, all day, all year. Patients pay $40 for a consultation, but there is no limit. The startup boasts a 95 percent satisfaction rating from users. The website should not be used in emergencies.

 

2. SnapMD is a Cloud-based technology with HIPAA-compliant encrypted video, audio and messaging. Physicians can easily access patient medical history if they choose to upload it to their account. SnapMD provides the ability for physicians to write prescriptions and verify health insurance, among many other features. The Cloud technology cuts the costs of dealing with a server.

 

3. BreakThrough offers online therapy so patients can connect with mental health providers. The service is available on nights and weekends. The site allow patients to access the right therapist for them, with location a non-issue.

 

4. LifeDojo wants employees to develop healthy habits. The site is for employers who want to increase their employees experience with healthy choices. There are four 12-week programs focusing on exercise, healthy eating, happiness and stress.

 

5. Pager allows patients to see a doctor without leaving their homes. Patients can book an appointment any day between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. to see a doctor in-person. The catch is they do not have to leave their beds, because the doctors will show up to their houses at the scheduled times. This site is only live in New York City, currently.
