Practice Management

Tampa, Fla.-based Laser Spine Institute is partnering with the Tampa Bay Lighting to feed children in need.

In partnership with the Tampa Bay Lightening hockey team, Laser Spine Institute is heading the Give & Grub food truck and will donate a meal to a hungry child for every meal sold on the local food truck. The organization will also partner with Metropolitan Ministries and Feeding America Tampa Bay on the project.

The project will be launched in downtown Tampa with the goal of providing 150,000 meals to local children. An estimated 250,000 children are struggling with hunger in the Tampa area.

"We've teamed up with the Lightening to 'stick it' to hunger, a serious problem impacting thousands of families in the Tampa Bay area each and every day," said Laser Spine Institute president and COO Dotty Bollinger. "As a healthcare organization that stresses the importance of preventative care and improved wellness, investing in a partnership that extends this reach to the local communities we serve is one of the company's core values."

There will be weekly Give & Grub food truck events to serve free meals in Tampa Bay and once per month the company will throw a free neighborhood event in communities of need. The events will also include appearances by Lightning players, street hockey and wellness and nutrition education.

The truck will also serve food at Lightening games and community events.
