7 Statistics on Number of Patients Physicians See Per Day

A majority of physicians see between 11 and 20 patients on average per day, according to "A Survey of America's Physicians: Practice Patterns and Perspectives," released by The Physicians Foundation.

The report includes responses from 13,575 physicians. The survey was conducted on behalf of The Physicians Foundation by Merritt Hawkins and completed in September 2012.  

 

When asked how many patients they see on average per day, respondents reported the following:

 

•    0 to 10 patients — 19.5 percent
•    11 to 20 patients — 39.8 percent
•    21 to 30 patients — 26.8 percent
•    31 to 40 patients —8.1 percent
•    41 to 50 patients — 2.6 percent
•    51 to 60 patients — 0.8 percent
•    More than 61 patients — 2.4 percent
