Here are 13 statistics on how orthopedic surgeons divide their time while at work, according to the Medscape Physician Compensation Report 2013.

Hours per week spent on paperwork and administrative activity:

One to four – 14 percent
Five to nine – 25 percent
10 to 14 – 26 percent
15 to 19 – 13 percent
20 to 24 – 12 percent
25 or more – 9 percent

Hours per week seeing patients in the hospital:

Less the one – 15 percent
One to four – 33 percent
Five to nine – 19 percent
10 to 14 – 12 percent
15 to 19 – 6 percent
20 to 24 – 5 percent
25 or more – 10 percent
