The Knee Society has updated its scoring system to more accurately match the outcomes of today's total knee arthroplasty patients, according to a report in AAOS Now.
Giles R. Scuderi, MD, chaired the committee to update the Knee Scoring System., which measures the patient's functional ability before and after TKA. The new tool includes preoperative and postoperative versions with patient and surgeon sections, according to the report.
The update has been four years in the making and considered data contributed by 18 North American Institutions from more than 500 cases. The new tool includes questions about both standard and discretionary activities.
