The following are eight tips for being proactive in your career from Forbes contributor Michael Mogill of the Young Entrepreneurs Council.
1. Take ownership of your career, both your successes and failures.
2. Be solution-focused. Focus on what you can control, rather than factors you can't impact.
3. Be accountable for task completion. Make goals for your to-do list, and then benchmark your progress periodically.
4. Make SMART — specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely — goals.
5. Have agency.
6. Be consistent and persistent.
7. Surround yourself with driven, effective people.
8. Be honest with yourself.
