While small businesses may not have the deep pockets of Google to employ the best recruiters, there are certain hiring tips that small businesses can use from Google, according to an Inc report.

Here are the five hiring tips from Michael B. Junge, a recruiter for Google:

 

1. Recognize the inherent strengths of the amateur.
2. Check to see if the candidate can really do what he claims he can.
3. Make being small work for you — be unique.
4. Don't believe the social media hype, however it can be useful.
5. Hiring should focus on attributes and skills of the candidate.
