Medacta hosts 250th MORE AMIS Learning Center: 7 things to know

Spinal Tech

The Medacta Orthopaedic Research and Education Institute is hosting its 250th MORE AMIS Learning Center for surgeons to learn Medacta's anterior minimally invasive surgery techniques.

Here are seven things to know:

1. Surgeons from all over the world gather to develop Medacta's anterior minimally invasive surgery technique for hip replacements through system tools, education resources and mentorship.

2. The AMIS technique is a muscle sparing approach to total hip replacement that is designed to shorten hospitalization and rehabilitation time, as well as return patients to daily activities sooner.

3. Through the MORE Institute, the MORE AMIS Education Program offers physicians ongoing medical education, as well as implant and instruments development opportunities.

4. More than 5,500 surgeons across 31 countries have completed training through the MORE AMIS Learning Center. In addition, more than 250,000 hip replacements have been performed using the AMIS approach.

5. After completing MORE AMIS Learning Center training, approximately 85 percent of participating surgeons go on to use the AMIS approach. The Institute also offers additional fellowship training for physicians.

6. The MORE Institute was created to provide ongoing support to Medacta partners worldwide who are dedicated to adopting emerging technologies, surgical techniques and orthopedic products.

7. Along with the AMIS system, Medacta developed the MyKnee patient matched technology for total knee replacements.
