US Patent Office allows Aurora Spine's patent for polyaxial ZIP ISP: 4 things to know

The U.S. Patent Office allowed Carlsbad, Calif.-based Aurora Spine's patent application, titled "Polyaxial Interspinous Fusion Implant and Bone Growth Stimulation System."

Here are four things to know:

 

1. This patent application covers Aurora's implant family of ZIP ISPs as well as its first polyaxial implant design.

 

2. The company's new polyaxial interspinous devices offers "full polyaxial maneuverability of the implant components in difficult situations during minimally invasive fusion cases," said Laszlo Garamszegi, Aurora Spine's chief technology officer.

 

3. This patent represents Aurora Spine's second allowed U.S. patent.

 

4. The company also has other pending U.S. and international patent applications.
