Spinal Tech

San Francisco-based The Spine Center at Dignity Health St. Mary's Medical Center completed its 100th spine surgery with the Mazor Renaissance Guidance System.

Here are three highlights:

1. St. Mary's Medical Center is the sole hospital provider of the Mazor robotic technology for spine surgery in the San Francisco area.

2. The Mazor robot is designed to guide surgeons' hands and tools to pre-planned locations.

3. The Spine Center surgeons utilize various advanced technologies in addition to the Mazor robot, including X-Stop, I-Fuse and artificial disc replacement and motion preservation devices.

"Millimeters make a difference," said James Zucherman, MD, St. Mary's Medical Center surgeon. "The Mazor system enables us to virtually map the size and trajectory of each screw before the surgery."
