Motus Global develops wearable tech sleeve for pitchers — 5 things to know

New York-based Motus Global developed the Motus Baseball Sleeve, a wearable technological device, for baseball pitchers, according to FOX Business.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. The device tracks the amount of strain pitchers place on their elbows.

 

2. The Birmingham, Ala.-based American Sports Medicine Institute and its founder James R. Andrews, MD, have shown support for the device.

 

3. Motus Global is currently working with more than 20 MLB teams.

 

4. Among the company's endorsers are New York Yankees relief pitcher Dellin Betances and Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen.

 

5. Research firm CCS Insight states wearable sales will reach $14 billion in 2016 and are projected to reach $34 billion by 2034.
