Lyon, France-based Medicrea received FDA approval for its patient-specific UNiD cervical rods for spine surgery.
Here are five things to know:
1. Themistocles Protopsaltis, MD, of NYU Langone Medical Center, implanted the first UNiD rod for the cervical spine.
2. The UNiD Rod is custom-designed to match the patient's unique spinal alignment, as well as align with the surgeon's pre-operative plan.
3. UNiD patient-specific cervical rods are offered in two alloys and in single-diameter or dual-diameter options.
4. The rods are secured using Medicrea's PASS OCT posterior cervical stabilization system.
5. The company's UNiD Lab services are now available for the entire cervical, thoracic and lumbar spinal regions.
