BioTras demonstrates AsTris 1.0 spine simulator at ASIPP conference: 5 notes

Spinal Tech

Dallas-based BioTras introduced its AsTris 1.0 spine simulator at the 2016 American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians conference in April.

Here are five notes:

1. AsTris 1.0 allows physicians to practice spinal injections before injecting real patients.

2. The simulator is clear so physicians can see needle movement as it advances toward the spine.

3. Physicians may customize the simulator to resemble various skeletal structures.

4. AsTris 1.0 is composed of reconstructed human vertebrae and may be X-rayed.

5. BioTras plans to develop second and third generation AsTris 1.0 which will train other specialists, like neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons.
