Here are eight recent mergers, acquisitions and partnerships that took place among spine and orthopedic companies.

Orchid Orthopaedic Solutions acquired Alhenia AG, a coated orthopedic implant device company. The companies will strengthen Orchid's position as a top orthopedic coding company.

 

Before finalizing their merger, Wright Medical Group and Tornier have to sell Tornier's rights and assets to the total knee replacements and total silastic toe joint replacements in the United States. The merger is valued at $3.3 billion.

 

Lima acquired Zimmer Biomet's knee and elbow technology rights for the Japanese market. Lima holds the rights to Zimmer Unicompartmental High Flex Knee as well as Discovery Elbow System for the Japanese Market.

 

Materialise expanded its partnership with Lima to use Materialise's Knee Guide System for the full knee replacement. The Knee Guide consists of three-dimensional surgical planning software and patient specific surgical guides for knee surgery.

 

Indianapolis-based NICO partnered with Hitachi Aloka Medical America, a surgical ultrasound developer based in Wallingford, Conn., to create real-time intraoperative imaging for surgeons during brain tumor surgery.

 

Z-Medical formed a strategic partnership with WebOps, a medical device logistics company. WebOps will give Z-Medical a comprehensive set of operational processes, tools and services for the U.S. launch of the MIS Z-Pedicle Screw System.

 

Medical Tracking Solutions partnered with AllianceMed and Spinal Simplicity. AllianceMed is a concierge billing services company centered on physicians, medical professionals and facilities. Spinal Simplicity focuses on minimally invasive solutions for complex spinal and orthopedic disorders.

 

Materialise partnered with Arcam to integrate the software and metal three-dimensional printer. The companies created the Arcam Build Processor.
