Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, Miss., is the first hospital in the area to use MAKOplasty RIO robotic arm system, according to WTOK-TV.
Here are four points:
1. The robotic arm is designed to help surgeons perform total hip replacements and partial knee replacements.
2. By precisely aligning and placing implants, the MAKOplasty RIO arm increases the longevity of the implants and limits the possibility of their relocation.
3. Rush Foundation Hospital was also the first in the state to use the Navio Surgical System, which assists with partial knee replacements.
4. The Navio system decreases hospital stays, improves recovery and requires smaller incisions.
