Codman Neuro's new family of coils treat brain aneurysms: 5 things to know

Spinal Tech

Codman Neuro, a global neurosurgery and neurovascular device company and part of DePuy Synthes Companies, launched a platform of embolic coils and detachment system for the treatment of brain aneurysms.

Here are five things to know:

1. The family of coils allows physicians to individualize intervention based on the unique anatomy of an aneurism.

2. Coils help physicians achieve aneurysm stability, effective neck coverage and packing density required to treat brain aneurisms.

3. The detachment system is designed to improve microcatheter stability and provide and optimized detachment zone for coils.

4. The system has tactile fluoro markers on the delivery wire which improve visibility and control during the procedure.

5. Codman Neuro is the only company that provides coil shapes for every step of a minimally invasive endovascular procedure.

"The Codman Neuro family of coils and detachment system provide the best of both worlds," said Ajit S. Puri, MD, Division of Neurointerventional Surgery at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Mass.
