Medtronic gives $1.1M in health access grants for underserved communities — 5 key notes

Medtronic awarded $1.1 million in Health Access grants to Minnesota-based non-profit organizations to expand healthcare services in underserved communities throughout the metropolitan area.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Twenty-two organizations will receive $50,000 over two years to ward improving access to quality healthcare in the community.

 

2. The organizations care for patients with chronic conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke and cancer for people who are unable to afford care or travel for care because of their health.

 

3. The organizations also provide services to help people navigate the healthcare system.

 

4. There are Medtronic Health Access Grants awarded in 36 locations where Medtronic employees are actively engaged in community service.

 

5. The organizations include the YMCA, Special Olympics Minnesota, Open Cities Health Center, American Diabetes Association, Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery and Pillsbury United Communities.
