Isador Lieberman, MD, performed a live surgical procedure using Mazor Robotics' Renaissance system at the Joint Congress of the Chinese Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons and North American Spine Society.

Here are five key facts:

 

1. The procedure was performed in front of 1,000 attending surgeons.

 

2. Dr. Lieberman is the head of the Scoliosis and Spine Tumor Unit at Texas Back Institute in Plano.

 

3. During his trip to China, Dr. Lieberman also visited several hospitals across the country and presented on the clinical benefits of robotic spine surgery.

 

4. In September 2014, the China Food and Drug Administration approved the Mazor Robotics' Renaissance system for use in the country.

 

5. To date, the Renaissance system has been used in over 1,000 spinal deformity corrections and minimally invasive procedures.
