CoNextions Medical wins innovation award — 5 things to know

The Utah Innovation Award in Life Sciences—Medical Device category went to CoNextions Medical at their annual meeting in April.

Here are five key notes:

 

1. CoNextions Medical received the award for its new suture-less tendon repair technology designed for safer and more durable tendon repairs as well as quicker rehabilitation and lower long-term costs.

 

2. Erik Kubiak, MD, of the University of Utah, co-founded the company in 2011 with entrepreneur Rich Linder.

 

3. The initial testing of the CoNextions tendon repair device showed substantially better outcomes than suturing. The company plans to apply for FDA 510(k) clearance this year.

 

4. CoNextions was founded in 2011 and is privately held in Sandy, Utah.

 

5. The company plans to concurrently file for the CE mark when filing for FDA clearance.
