Elmhurst (Ill.) Hospital has implemented the Kiva VCF Treatment System for vertebral compression fractures, according to a Chicago Tribune report.
The minimally invasive system is used on an outpatient basis. It is made of plastic and reduces the chance of adjacent vertebrae fractures. Ryon Hennessy, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at the hospital, uses the new system. Hehas used more than 50 Kiva implants since May 2014, according to the report.
