Dr. Jacob Rosenstein performs 1st spinal fusion with Arena-C HA — 5 thing to know

Spinal Tech

Jacob Rosenstein, MD, became the first surgeon in North America to perform an anterior cervical disc fusion with the Arena-C HA interbody with PEEK-OPTIMA HA Enhanced from SpineFrontier.

Here are five things to know:

1. This is the first implantation of PEEK-OPTIMA HA Enhanced in a live human.

2. Dr. Rosenstein performed the procedure at USMD Hospital at Arlington Texas.

3. The implant has an intervertebral spacer made from biocompatible plastic designed for mechanical stability.

4. The PEEK-OPTIMA HA Enhanced incorporates hydroxyapatite, which received FDA clearance in October last year.

5. Dr. Rosenstein said fusion rates will likely improve as the hydroxyapatite promotes osseointegration with direct bony in-growth into the cage. Patients could heal faster and more predictably to return to normal activity sooner.

Dr. Rosenstein completed fellowship training in neurological surgery at the Gough-Cooper Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the National Hospital for Nervous Diseases in London.
