Life Spine received FDA clearance for 40 transition connector implants to thoracolumbar and cervical systems.
Here are five things to know:
1. The company has clearance for forty additions to the CONQUEST, AVATAR and NAUTILUS thoracolumbar screw systems and SOLSTICE Occipito-Cervico-Thoracic system.
2. The clearances also include a variety of domino, in-line and wedding band rod-to-rod connectors, open and closed offsets and a U-shaped connector for a rigid connection while skipping levels and/or mating with existing implants.
3. The various rod connector additions are designed to make revision surgery easier, safer and quicker, according to Vittorio M. Morreale, MD, medical director of neurosciences at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Michigan.
4. There is a potential for faster recovery times and less postoperative pain with the new connectors involved.
5. The clearance gives Life Spine the opportunity to market the new implant additions.
