Preliminary financial results show Stryker's net sales for the fourth quarter and full year grew significantly, but stock price growth was still below Wall Street's expectations.

According to a Nasdaq report, the company experienced a negative per-share impact of $0.06, which is worse than had been expected. While Thompson Reuters analysts expected per-share profit of $1.46 on revenue of $2.63 billion for the fourth quarter, the preliminary report showed a per-share earning of $1.43 to $1.45 on net sales of $2.6 billion.

Here are eight key points from the company's preliminary financial report:

1. Full year net sales were $2.6 billion to $9.7 billion, which is a 6.1 percent to 7.3 percent growth over 2013. Without the impact of foreign currency and acquisitions, the net sales increased 5.5 percent in the fourth quarter and 5.8 percent in the full year.

2. There was one less selling day in the fourth quarter, which negatively impacted sales by 1 percent.

4. International sales reached $88 million in the fourth quarter, down 3.8 percent. International sales for the full year hit $3.1 billion, a 2.6 percent increase.

5. Orthopedic sales in the fourth quarter were up 1.7 percent to $1.1 billion. For the full year, orthopedic sales increased 5.2 percent to $4.2 billion.

7. Neurotechnology and spine sales were up 3.9 percent in the fourth quarter to $454 million. They reached $1.7 billion in 2014, a 5 percent increase.

8. The MedSurg sales hit $1.1 billion in the fourth quarter, a 12.1 percent increase, and $3.8 billion for the full year, a 10.8 percent increase.
