K2M's CAPRI Corpectomy Cage System used in 1st surgery: 4 quick facts

Spinal Tech

K2M announced that the first surgical case using its CAPRI Corpectomy Cage System has been successfully completed.

Here are four things to know about the system:

1. The first case was performed by Stefano Boriani, MD, at Rizzoli Hospital in Bologna, Italy.

"Due to this unique design and functionality, I was able to adjust the cage in-situ to engage the patient's inferior and superior vertebral body endplates. I am very pleased with the design, functionality and ease of use," said Dr. Boriani.

2. The CAPRI system is an expandable vertebral body replacement device that is intended for use in the thoracolumbar spine (T1 to L5) to replace collapsed, damaged or unstable vertebral bodies due to tumor or trauma.

3. K2M received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to market the CAPRI Corpectomy Cage System last month.

4. The company also recently received the CE Mark to expand its global distribution of the product.
