The Federal Trade Commission cleared Medtronic to merge with Covidien, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
The $43 billion merger was announced earlier this year. To complete the merger, Medtronic was required to sell Covidien's catheter business, which Spectranetics purchased for $30 million earlier this month.
The approval was won on a five-zero vote in the FTC, and Canadian officials also approved the deal today. There will be a monitor supervising the catheter business's transfer to Spectranetics.
Medtronic is still on target to complete the acquisition in early 2015, according to the report.
