Spinal Tech

Implanet signed six new distribution agreements in the wake of the North American Spine Society annual meeting.

The company, based in Bordeaux, France, and Boston, is focused on vertebral and knee surgery implants. The company's JAZZ implant garnered great interest at the meeting earlier this month. Implanet signed six new distribution agreements during the event and now has 20 sales agencies in the United States.

"Surgeons and distributors showed a high level of interest in its technical properties, its ease of insertion and associated instrumentation, all of which provide substantial clinical benefit," said CEO Ludovic Lastennet. "More than 20 follow-up appointments have been scheduled for the coming weeks."

He sees connections made during the NASS annual meeting playing a "substantial" role in future worldwide JAZZ adoption.

Here are five quick facts on the JAZZ system:

• It's a single posterior fixation system to treat the spine from T1 to L5
• The system is indicated for conditions including kyphosis, lordosis and scoliosis.
• JAZZ is intended for use with titanium alloy 5.5 mm diameter rods.
• Surgeons can use JAZZ with the Implanet Spine System for a hybrid arrangement.
• The system has a one-size-fits-all anatomical configuration.
