Cayenne Medical, a Scottsdale, Ariz.-based sports medicine device company, launched the CrossFix II Meniscal Repair System, the second generation of a device designed to treat traumatic meniscal tears, according to a company news release.
The CrossFix II platform offers minimally invasive, all-suture meniscal repair to reduce the risk of chondral injury associated with implantable meniscal devices. The technique uses suture delivery needles, available in both curved and straight design, that are inserted through a single incision to gain access to multiple tear sites from the inside surface of the meniscus.
The new platform also includes sharper, stiffer suture delivery needles and improved suture strength which can result in a high strength biomechanical repair.
