Aesculap Launches Spine Trauma, Oncologic Surgical System

Spinal Tech

Aesculap Implant Systems, a B. Braun company, has launched the Hydrolif Vertebral Body Replacement system indicated for treating burst fractures and tumor removal of the thoracolumbar spine, according to a company news release.

The system is designed to allow surgeons more flexibility and tacitle feedback during the procedure. The system uses hydrostatic force for distraction to minimize vertebral body endplate damage and the Hydrolif has an expansion range of 21-94 millimeters.

Surgeons are able to use the system's in-situ angulations to match the surgery to the patient's anatomic needs. The system is indicated for use in the thoracolumbar spine for partial or total replacement of collapsed, damaged or unstable vertebral body due to tumor or trauma.
