Dr. Jeffery Pierson implants 1st Exactech Alteon Tapered Wedge Femoral Stem

Exactech announced the first implantation of the Alteon Tapered Wedge Femoral Stem by orthopedic surgeon Jeffery Pierson, MD.

The procedure was performed at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Carmel, Ind. The implant, which is currently in the pilot launch phase of release, includes specific features designed to achieve axial and rotational mechanical stability between the lateral and medial cortices of the femoral canal.

 

According to the company, a full launch of the product is expected to take place within the U.S. in January of 2015.
